Kate Creates is a small business based in Pakenham, Victoria, owned and operated by myself, Kate Gorringe. I was previously employed as a graphic pre-press operator at Star News for around two and a half years and during that time, I developed a vast education in, and love for, graphic design, typography, and print.
My business was born just before my nephew's fifth birthday. My mum and sister had just discovered this amazing creation known as "pintrest", and their imaginations were set ablaze. Suddenly, generic decorations were just not going to be enough. They approached me with the pages of ideas they had pinned, and asked me if I could create some personalized Superhero themed decorations and ivitations for my nephew.
I was excited to undertake this challenge, as it was something I had complete creative control over. I designed invitations that replicated an issue of the Daily Planet newspaper (the newspaper agency used in the Superman comics and movies), as well as themed banners, food wrappers, and various other decorations. The party was a huge success (and is still the talk of my nephews friends and their parents), and since then, I have also done invitations and decorations for my sisters hens night, and several more birthdays.
